Changing Colors in Squarespace

Are you looking to add a fresh pop of color to your Squarespace website? Changing your website's color palette can be an easy and effective way to refresh your site's look and feel.

In this tutorial, I will build off last week’s post and guide you through the steps to change the color palette on your Squarespace website. You will learn how to update your website's global colors and create your own custom color palettes using hex codes.

Making your changes

Once you are ready to make your changes, Squarespace makes it so easy to update your site. Next up, I’ll walk you through using the Squarespace color presets and hex codes from Canva.

Squarespace

To change colors using preset SquareSpace options. Head to the site styles editor and click on colors. Next, click on edit palette. Below the current palette, there is a list of presets. Click one of these to update your colors. Depending on which template you start with, the changes will vary. I tried out the Alameda and the Crosby templates and recorded a video of the color changes with built-in palettes. No matter which palette I chose, Alameda didn’t have much difference at all. With Crosby, you can see the differences; depending on which palette you choose, the site feel changes dramatically.

If you are looking for something more out of the box head over to Canva’s color palettes at: www.canva.com/colors/color-palettes/ or to the Canyon Route Pinterest account for my Favorite Canva Color Palettes.

On Canva you can view the hundred-plus pages of premade color palettes. It’s easy to search through the options by color, theme, or keyword. Click on one you like to get the hex codes to 4 colors. These codes are what you need to update the palette on your website. Again, I choose 2-3 of the 4 colors offered. Once you find a color palette you like, watch the video to use the hex codes to update your palette.

I hope that helped you get started changing your color palette to express your brand!
